Germany's most important stage race will remain true to its motto in terms of course layout in 2025: from 20 to 24 August, the race will take place over a varied course that offers good chances of victory for classic specialists. However, sprinters will also get their money's worth and are likely to be in contention for victory, especially during the prologue and the first two stages.

Germany Tour 2025 largely in NRW

The tour, which Fabian Wegmann accompanies as head of sport, leads for the most part through North Rhine-Westphalia. It starts with a prologue in Essen, where the riders with a pulse of 180 present themselves to the fans in a winding introductory lap against the clock. Two rather flat stages will then take them first to Herford and then on to Arnsberg. At 202.6 kilometres, the day's stage from Essen to Herford is the longest of this year's Deutschland Tour.

The longest climb on the 735 kilometres of the tour is the approach to the Hermannsdenkmal with 3.2 kilometres and 5.4 per cent. Once again, there are no high mountains on the course. As last year, the overall leader will wear the colour blue - a tribute to the new main sponsor. A total of 18 teams will be at the start, including the top German racing team Red Bull - Bora- hansgrohe and the small domestic Continental teams Bike Aid and Rembe | rad-net. The supporting programme of the tour includes an extensive programme for children, races for everyone in Magdeburg and the Newcomer Tour for young female riders.
