This year's Deutschland Tour will once again be an attractive stage for German cyclists, who will be able to compete against top-class rivals over the five days of racing between 20 and 24 August. The two German Continental teams Bike Aid and Rembe | rad-net have been invited to take part in Germany's most important stage race. With the nomination of the two teams, the starting field for the Deutschland Tour is now complete.
Rembe | rad-net goes into the race with a considerable tailwind. The Sauerland-based team is currently dominating the Bundesliga, where it makes up the entire podium. Especially during the first three stages in North Rhine-Westphalia - and therefore also in Sauerland - the riders can hope for loud support from their fans on the roadside. Team manager Jörg Scherf says: "We are absolutely delighted to have been confirmed as a starter. For us as a Sauerland team, it is of course a special highlight to ride through our home region on the Tour of Germany."
Team Bike Aid is also on the road to success. In the UCI ranking, the team from Saarland is the best-placed German Continental team. After third place by Anton Schiffer at the German Championship last weekend now awaits the Deutschland Tour as another highlight in the racing calendar. Bike Aid is taking part in the D-Tour for the third time this year thanks to a wildcard.
The German Continental teams will face strong international competition at the Tour of Germany. The eleven participating World Tour teams include renowned teams such as Alpecin-Deceuninck, Ineos Grenadiers and the host team Lidl-Trek. Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe, Soudal Quick-Step and UAE Team Emirate-XRG will also be at the start. The peloton will be completed by five pro teams.
