Nils Politt has lost his position in the leading group on the 19th stage of the 110th Tour de France due to a mismatched spare wheel. Due to a broken chain on his bike, the 29-year-old needed a replacement, but three wheels supplied by a neutral vehicle did not fit.

As a result, the rider from Cologne lost valuable time and lost his place at the front 90 kilometres before the finish. The 1.92 tall cyclist then received a new bike from his German racing team Bora-hansgrohe shortly afterwards. Politt was visibly upset when none of the replacement bikes fitted. At this point, Georg Zimmermann was still part of the leading group, which had a lead of around a minute.
