Tadej Pogačar has sorted out his long-term future. As UAE Team Emirates – XRG has officially announced, the Slovenian has extended his contract early, until the end of 2032. This means that one of the biggest stars in modern cycling will remain with his current team for at least the next six years.

Tadej Pogačar remains loyal to his team

Since joining the team in 2019, Tadej Pogačar has been the face of UAE Team Emirates. In the statement, the Slovenian described the team as his sporting home and emphasised that he sees it as offering the best conditions for him to continue competing for the biggest victories in cycling. Team manager Mauro Gianetti also highlighted the key role Pogačar has played in the team’s development.

Discussions about retirement are off the table

The contract extension also puts an end to the speculation that had been circulating repeatedly over recent months. In particular, following the Slovenian’s comments about the pressures of professional sport and the recent discussions surrounding his future, there had even been isolated speculation about a possible early retirement.

With his new contract running until the end of 2032, Tadej Pogačar is now sending out a clear message. Rather than retiring early, this exceptional rider is planning for the long term in professional cycling and will remain one of the defining figures in the peloton for years to come.

The 2026 season has already ended

At the same time, his team confirmed that Pogačar will not be returning to racing this season following his serious crash at the Vuelta a España. The team wants to give the Slovenian sufficient time to make a full recovery and avoid putting him under any unnecessary time pressure. According to the team, whilst Pogačar is recovering as planned, the rehabilitation of his injuries remains the top priority.

Whilst the 2026 season has thus come to a premature end for the Slovenian, his fans can be certain of one thing at least: Tadej Pogačar will continue to wear the UAE Team Emirates – XRG jersey in the years to come.
