German road cycling champion Maximilian Schachmann has had to postpone the start of his season due to a coronavirus infection. This was announced by his racing team Bora-hansgrohe.
The Berlin rider had tested positive in a rapid test at the training camp in Mallorca at the weekend, and a PCR test subsequently confirmed the result. According to the racing team, Schachmann is doing well, as is his team-mate Giovanni Aleotti, who also tested positive.
However, the planned start at the Mallorca Challenge race from Thursday to Sunday this week had to be cancelled.
