The UCI is sticking with Kigali as the venue for the 2025 Road World Championships, despite conflicts in Congo. The world cycling organisation is hoping for a quick and peaceful solution to the situation.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has clarified in a press release that the 2025 World Cycling Championships will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, as planned. The conflicts in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is close to Rwanda, would not change this. The statement says that the UCI is working closely with the local organising committee to keep an eye on the situation.

Despite the conflict in eastern Congo, the Cycling World Federation emphasises that Rwanda itself is considered safe for tourism and business activities. The governing body also rejected rumours about a possible relocation of the event to Switzerland. There are "no plans to relocate the 2025 UCI Road World Championships from Rwanda to Switzerland or any other location", it said.
