Bogotá (dpa) - The Colombian women's cycling team IDRD-Bogotá Humana-San Mateo-Solgar wants to send its provocative nude jerseys to the president of the cycling world federation UCI, Brian Cookson. This was announced by coach Jorge Tenjo at a press conference in Bogotá.

"I keep telling the girls to remain confident in their abilities and to stay strong. Because what happened was just the manipulation of an obscene person who took the photo and distributed it," said Tenjo.

The team had worn jerseys at the weekend that were skin-coloured between the stomach and thighs, simulating nudity. Cookson called the action at the Tour of Tuscany at the weekend "unacceptable" and announced an investigation - although the riders have been competing in these jerseys since January. The designer, a member of the team, once again defended the outfit in Bogotá by pointing out that it contained the colours of the team sponsor.
