Liane Lippert (Movistar) missed out on victory in the Breton classic Classic Lorient Agglomeration - Trophee Ceratizit 2024 by just a few seconds. On 158 kilometres with start and finish in Plouay, she broke away from the peloton in the last five kilometres together with Mischa Bredewold (SD Worx - Protime) and Chloe Dygert (Canyon//SRAM Racing). While Dygert launched her attack one kilometre before the finish and opened up a gap, Bredewold and Lippert kept a low profile for the time being. When Bredewold then set off on the final sprint, Lippert was no longer able to follow. The Dutchwoman overtook Dygert in the final metres and secured victory in the one-day race.
It took a long time in the race before a rider was able to break away at a high pace from the start. Linda Zanetti (Human Powered Health) tried to escape to the front as a soloist, followed some time later by her team-mate Henrietta Christie and Maajke Colje (Arkea-B&B Hotels). In the peloton, it was Lidl-Trek and SD Worx - Protime in particular who took the lead, collecting the three escapees 50 kilometres before the finish. At this point, the peloton was already very thinned out.
Amber Kraak (FDJ-Suez) then attacked 44 kilometres before the finish, who then also rode to the front as a soloist. Things looked good for the Dutchwoman for a long time, but then came the attack from Liane Lippert. The German attacked 5 kilometres before the finish and literally flew past Kraak, before Dygert and Bredewold caught up with Lippert a short time later. The German then had to admit defeat in the final. She finished third, Bredewold took victory in the Classic Lorient Agglomeration - Trophee Ceratizit 2024.
