It is the sixth victory for an Austrian in an extreme cycling race across the United States. With an average speed of 25 km/h, the Styrian needed seven days, 22 hours and 52 minutes to cover the almost 5,000 kilometres. He thus remained well under the eight-day mark.
The 20-minute "power naps" (short, intensive sleep) and only one longer 75-minute break left the 30-year-old struggling with fatigue towards the end of the race. Strasser had already described the tactic of short breaks to ORF.at during the race as the key to success: "Having to sleep less means losing less time. That's what it's all about"
