The Berlin six-day race will not take place this year either. The rescheduled date for the iconic cycling event in the Velodrom has now also had to be cancelled.
The general economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the unforeseeable end to the war in Ukraine "have also drastically changed the general conditions for us and are having a significant impact on planning security," said Valts Miltovics, Managing Director of Six Day Berlin, in a statement. "As a result, there is unfortunately no alternative for us to postpone the event again."
The 110th edition should have taken place from 28 June to 3 July and has now been scheduled for the end of January next year. In 2021, the race was also ultimately cancelled due to the pandemic. "If we can't race in July, then we're all the more looking forward to January," said sprinter and local hero Robert Förstemann.
