For the first time since 2019, the German Cycling Federation (BDR) is once again organising German championships on the track. The Sportforum in Kaarst-Büttgen will be the venue for the 135th title fights from Tuesday to Sunday.
Even sprint star Pascal Ackermann wants to make a detour onto the track. The former Giro stage winner is definitely registered for the title fights.
"I'm delighted that Pascal is making the trip to the track," said national coach Tim Zühlke. In the elite class, Roger Kluge is another World Tour pro on the start list. In the women's category, three of the four 2021 Olympic champions have confirmed their participation in Büttgen: Lisa Brennauer (Durach), Franziska Brauße (Eningen) and Mieke Kröger (Bielefeld).Brauße, Marc Jurczyk from Erfurt and Theo Reinhardt from Berlin were the most successful riders at the last championships to date in 2019 in Berlin as part of the finals, which were held for the first time, with three championship titles each. In 2020 and 2021, the championships had to be cancelled without replacement due to the coronavirus pandemic.
