Herrada wins in Cistierna

The Spaniard took victory on Friday after 190 kilometres from Camargo to Cistierna in the sprint of a five-man group ahead of the Italian Samuele Battistella and the Brit Fred Wright. The peloton reached the finish 29 seconds behind. It was Herrada's second Vuelta stage win since 2019.

There were no changes at the top of the overall standings. The young Belgian star Remco Evenepoel, who had taken the lead the day before, continues to wear the red jersey. The 22-year-old is 21 seconds ahead of Frenchman Rudy Molard. Defending champion Primoz Roglic from Slovenia is 1:01 minutes back in fourth overall.

There are two mountain finishes on the programme this weekend. On Saturday, the final climb will be to Collau Fancuaya, followed a day later by Les Praeres Nava - both first category climbs.
