The 48-year-old American is offering twelve wealthy participants the opportunity to cycle with him and his long-time US Postal team-mate George Hincapie (46) for five days on the Balearic island at the end of September. The slim price for the time with the former record winner of the Tour de France: 30,000 US dollars (equivalent to around 27,000 euros).
"Join us on this beautiful Mediterranean island for great cycling, food, wine and conversation," Armstrong wrote on Twitter. In addition to five days on the bike, the package for "The Move Mallorca 2020" includes six nights' accommodation, food and bikes for the twelve chosen riders. Armstrong's business idea has already attracted the attention of potential "copycats" among current professional cyclists. "For €2000 you can train with me and a few friends ... we'll follow the 30k Lance group all day and drink good red wine (maybe rosé too) (oh and Aperol) in the evening," tweeted British Lotto Soudal pro Adam Blythe on Friday.
Armstrong was banned for life for doping in 2012 and was also stripped of all seven Tour de France victories (1999 to 2005). In 2013, the Texan made a full confession to doping. Numerous lawsuits for damages cost him more than 100 million US dollars. Armstrong said this in an interview with the TV channel CNBC in December 2018.
