Warren Barguil has become the sixth professional cyclist to withdraw from the Tour de France due to a positive corona test. This was announced by his team Arkea-Samsic.
According to the team, the tests of the other seven riders on the team, including Nairo Quintana from Colombia, who finished sixth overall, were negative. Frenchman Barguil had won the Tour's mountains jersey in 2017.
Before Barguil, George Bennett, Geoffrey Bouchard, Vegard Stake Laengen, Guillaume Martin and Luke Durbridge already had to leave the tour corona-positive. The next mandatory tests are scheduled for Monday.
