Walter Lemke from Munich has been passionate about cycling since his childhood. He is particularly fond of the Italian cycling legend Fausto Coppi. In this interview, he talks about his connection to cycling and how he travelled 300 kilometres to Italy on his racing bike to see his great idol at the Giro d'Italia.

Walter Lemke has spent his life collecting material about the "Campionissimo" and, of course, the Giro d'Italia. In order to pass on his enthusiasm and knowledge of the Italian cyclist's career, he has written a biography of Fausto Coppi in his spare time, comprising almost 600 pages. It took him around ten years, as he says himself.

In an entertaining and inimitable way, Walter Lemke tells his interviewer Daniele Del Gesso (VELOVIN) how he managed to get an autograph just a few months before the tragic death of the Italian racing bike legend, about his acquaintances with Coppi's family members and how he visits Coppi's birthplace every time he goes on holiday to Italy.
