The International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced where the World Championships will be held in 2026 and 2027.

Super World Cup 2027 in France

The second World Cycling Super Championships will be held in the French department of Haute-Savoie in 2027. This was announced by the UCI after its meeting on the sidelines of the title fights in Wollongong, Australia.

This format will bring together a total of 19 cycling world championships in one place, including the road, track, mountain bike and BMX titles. The first Super World Championships will take place in Glasgow from 3 to 13 August 2023.

UCI President speaks out

"I would like to Haute-Savoie The French region is to be congratulated on winning the bid to organise the second UCI Cycling World Championships, which will be held in Glasgow next year, four years after the first edition. The French region Haute-Savoie with its vast experience and ideal environment, will offer the various and diverse cycling disciplines optimal conditions for a successful event," said UCI President David Lappartient.

Montréal wins the bid for 2026

The UCI also awarded further title fights: in 2026, the Road Cycling World Championships will be held in Montréal, Canada. The first road cycling world championships outside of Europe were held in Montréal in 1974, where Belgian Eddy Merckx and French rider Geneviève Gambillon won the titles.

The World Championship venues for track cycling have been finalised for 2026. Emma Hinze and co. will have to be prepared for long journeys. In 2025, the World Championships will be held in San Juan, Argentina, followed a year later by Shanghai. This year, the Track Cycling World Championships will be held from 12 to 16 October in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, just outside Paris. Glasgow 2023 will be followed by Copenhagen 2024.

New UCI member

At its congress in Wollongong, the UCI also decided to admit the Bhutan Cycling Federation. This means that 202 national federations are now registered as members.
