The Velo d'Or (Golden Bicycle in German) is recognised as the award for the best male or female cyclist of each year. The winners have now been announced. TOUR shows the results.

The Velo d'Or has been organised by the French magazine Velo Magazine since 1992. In 2022, the best male cyclist of the year and this year, for the first time, the best female cyclist of the year were also selected by a jury.

Velo d'Or: How the voting works

The voting panel is made up of international sports journalists who have selected their top five men and women from a shortlist. They were awarded 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point. The winners have now been announced.

Remco Evenepoel came out on top in the men's race. No wonder: the Belgian was world champion in 2022 and also won his first major three-week national tour with the Vuelta a Espana. He relegated Wout van Aert and Tadej Pogacar to second and third place. Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard, on the other hand, only finished in fourth place.
