Die Niederländerin Annemiek van Vleuten hat sich bei einem Sturz im australischen Wollongong den Ellenbogen gebrochen.
After her crash at the World Cycling Championships, Annemiek van Vleuten took to Twitter to speak out.

Annemiek van Vleuten has broken her elbow in a fall at the World Championships in Wollongong, Australia. The 39-year-old announced this on the short message service Twitter with.

"Stable elbow fracture, no operation required. I can cycle, but that depends on the pain and has to be sensible. Hope I can sleep," wrote the Dutchwoman after being hospitalised for treatment. This means that the three-time world champion's start in the individual race on Saturday is questionable.

Van Vleuten talks about crash

Van Vleuten was in the mixed team time trial crashed shortly after the start, apparently due to a technical defect. "I don't know what happened, but it looks like the tyre burst after I touched the side of the road. So that wasn't the problem. Something threw me off balance, but whatever caused it: It's not going to help or change my situation," tweeted the cycling star.
