After the first of five rounds in Palma de Mallorca, the Cottbus native is in fourth place in the overall standings with 22 points after finishing ninth in the sprint.
Team sprint world champion Pauline Grabosch from Cottbus is in eighth place (14 points). Keirin world champion Shanne Braspennincx from the Netherlands is in the lead (26).
Stefan Bötticher from Chemnitz also got off to a good start in the men's short course. Last year's overall runner-up finished second in the keirin and fourth in the sprint and is in third place in the overall standings with 30 points behind double Olympic champion Harrie Lavreysen from the Netherlands (37) and Australian Matthew Richardson (35).
Champions League debutants Lea Lin Teutenberg (Cologne) and Moritz Malcharek are in ninth and sixth place after the first day of racing. The second round of the UCI Track Champions League will be held on 19 November in the Berlin Velodrom. The series, which is endowed with 500,000 euros, ends on 3 December in London.
