Tougher than ever before - this is how the race organiser is announcing the new route for the next edition of the Eschborn-Frankfurt one-day race. On 1 May 2026, the route will lead from the start in Frankfurt over 211.7 kilometres and 3300 metres in altitude to the finish in front of the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main. The Feldberg, the highest elevation in the Taunus, will be ridden twice in future and via the much more selective south-west side. The Mammolshainer Stich will remain part of the route three times and will be closer to the finale, providing additional racing excitement. In addition, a new steep section will celebrate its premiere: the professional cyclists will have to climb three times over the Burgweg in Niederreifenberg, which is over 500 metres and eleven per cent steep. However, from the last climb at Mammolshainer Stich, the route is still around 35 kilometres downhill and flat towards the finish. Nevertheless, victories are likely to become more difficult for sprinters in the future.
The starting area is also new: it starts on Eschenplatz. The reason is construction work. Alongside the Cyclassics in Hamburg, Eschborn-Frankfurt is the only race on German soil that is part of the racing calendar of the most important racing series, the World Tour. Both races are organised by the French race organiser ASO, which is also responsible for the Tour de France. The most recent winner in Frankfurt was Australian Michael Matthews from the Jayco-AlUla team. The record winner is the Norwegian Alexander Kristoff, who has won a total of four times in Frankfurt. The ADAC Velotour amateur race also takes place on parts of the professional course. There are three different distances in total. Information about the races: www.eschborn-frankfurt.de
