After just one year with La Passione, Movistar will switch to jerseys from Gobik in 2023. The Spanish clothing manufacturer, which was still with UAE Team Emirates in 2022, is supplying Movistar's men and women with new workwear.
"Dressing the oldest team in the history of cycling (Movistar completed its first season as Reynolds in 1980; editor's note) is definitely a new milestone in the company's history," says Jose Ramon Ortin, CEO and co-founder of Gobik about the partnership with Movistar.
The Movistar kit for the 2023 season is intended to be "bright" and "futuristic". To create this look, Gobik has incorporated several colour gradients in shades of blue into the jersey, including on the sleeves and collar.
"The main goal was to gain luminosity and break with tradition without losing the team's characteristic colours," says Angel Lencina, Head of Product Development at Gobik, about the new design of the Movistar jersey.
Compared to 2022, the stripes on the upper body have disappeared and the trousers are now black, whereas last year they were blue. The lighter shades of blue on the new jersey complement the blue on the Canyon racing bikes. The bike manufacturer from Koblenz will also provide the bikes for Team Movistar in 2023.
The team has a number of special jerseys, such as those of world champion Annemiek van Vleuten and German champion Liane Lippert, who has recently joined the team. Both jerseys will stand out in the women's peloton in the road races with their striking design, just like that of Serbian champion Jelena Eric.
In the men's race, Abner Gonzalez (national champion in Puerto Rico) and Vinicius Rangel (national champion in Brazil) are travelling with special jerseys.
