"It's incredibly exciting to switch to the other side now and get to know cycling from a different perspective," said the 34-year-old Brennauer, who ended her active career in the summer. "I'm looking forward to contributing my experience to the Women's Cycling Grand Prix and thus promoting women's cycling, because the new race can be an important step for the future of our sport."
According to the organisers, 120 riders are expected to take part in the only German one-day race on the UCI's professional calendar. From the start in the Stuttgart region, the route covers 125 kilometres through the districts of Ludwigsburg and Böblingen, with the finish in Baden-Württemberg's state capital.
In addition to the new Grand Prix in Stuttgart, the only other event on the UCI calendar for professionals in Germany is the Tour of Thuringia (23 to 28 May 2023). Women's cycling has experienced an upswing in recent years. This year saw a highly publicised new edition of the Tour de France Femmes.
