The gold medal went to world champion Jeffrey Hoogland from the Netherlands (58.203), silver went to Alejandro Martinez from Spain (59.687). Marc Jurczyk from Erfurt finished eighth in 1:01.952 minutes.
In the women's team pursuit, Olympic champions Franziska Brauße (Eningen), Lisa Klein (Erfurt) and Mieke Kröger (Bielefeld) together with Laura Süßemilch (Aulendorf), who has returned from injury, also finished third. In the small final against France, the quartet turned around a deficit over the last four laps. The defending champions crossed the finish line after 4:14.402 minutes with a lead of just under 1.5 seconds.
The German Cycling Federation has secured a medal in the women's sprint, in which Lea Sophie Friedrich and Pauline Grabosch (both Cottbus) reached the semi-finals on Friday. Defending champion Emma Hinze from Cottbus decided not to compete. "I want to break new ground and concentrate on other disciplines," explained the 2020 and 2021 sprint world champion.
In the men's team pursuit, the German foursome with Benjamin Boos (Erfurt), Tobias Buck-Gramcko (Göttingen), Theo Reinhardt (Berlin) and Leon Rohde (Wedel) finished sixth at the European Championships in 3:52.069 minutes.
