European Track Cycling Championships 2023: Hinze defends title

Hinze defended the title she won at the 2022 European Championships in the non-Olympic 500-metre time trial. The Cottbus native won in 32.947 seconds, almost half a second ahead of time trial world champion Taky Marie Kouame from France. Third place went to Hetty van den Wouw from the Netherlands. It was Hinze's second gold medal after her victory in the team sprint at the start of the European Championships on Wednesday. Pauline Grabosch from Cottbus finished fifth.

In the 3000 metre individual pursuit, Franziska Brauße from Eningen also took the European Championship title after winning gold at last year's World Championships. The Olympic team champion from Tokyo won the final in 3:20.613 minutes over Great Britain's Josie Knight (3:23.613). Mieke Kröger from Bielefeld secured the bronze medal. The 2022 European champion won the small final in 3:24.895 minutes ahead of Great Britain's Anna Morris.
