Our photo series begins at the Superprestige in Boom at the beginning of December, where Tom Pidcock once again demonstrated his skills and took his second win of the season. TOUR spoke to the Brit in detail and talked about his career.
It was extremely muddy in the middle of the month when the Cross World Cup stopped off in Dublin. Neither mud or crashes nor a towel that got caught in his rear derailleur could stop Wout van Aert on his triumphant ride in Ireland that day.
A few days later, the riders were out on the snow at the World Cup in Val di Sole. The races in Italy are very popular as they provide unique images. Puck Pieterse from the Netherlands was the strongest in the women's race, while Michael Vanthourenhout from Belgium came out on top in the men's race.
There are no Christmas holidays on the cross-country circuit. Races were held on 26 and 27 December, among others. Firstly at the World Cup in Gavere, where van Aert, van der Poel and Pidcock clashed (van der Poel still won here) and a day later at the Superprestige in Zolder, where van Aert came out on top.
On 28 December, the three top stars once again fought a thrilling battle in mud and sand at the evening race in Diegem. Once again, van Aert came out on top, just like at the Azencross at the end of the year on 30 December.
