Autumn is the time for cyclocross, or rather the start of the cyclocross season. After last month's Cyclocross World Cup 2023/2024 opened with two races, November continued with three World Cup stages and the European Cyclocross Championships - and was also able to inspire fans with other events: The Qiandao Lake Road Cycling Race, the Koppenbergcross, the Jaarmarktcross in Niel, as well as the UCI Track Champions League 2023 and the six-day race in Ghent were further cycling highlights of November.
Fem van Empel from the Netherlands was crowned European champion at the European Cyclocross Championships at the beginning of the month. In the race on 5 November, she finished 1:35 minutes ahead of her rival Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado. The 21-year-old van Empel is unbeaten in the cyclocross races so far this season.
Second place at the European Cyclocross Championships and the Cyclocross World Cup in Dublin, first place at the Jaarmarktcross in Niel, at the Aardbeiencross in Merksplas, as well as at the World Cup races in Troyes and Dendermonde. It was a very successful cross month for Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado.
The 25-year-old Dutchwoman was able to confirm her form after winning the Cyclocross World Cup race in Dendermonde on 12 November and also crossed the finish line first at the fourth World Cup stage in Troyes on 19 November. Alvarado rounded off her strong World Cup record with second place in the fifth Cyclocross World Cup race (Dublin, 26 November).
Track cycling fans also got their money's worth in November. For example, rounds 3-5 of the UCI Track Champions League 2023 were held last month. Particularly pleasing from a German perspective: Alessa-Catriona Pröpster's second place in the short-track event. TOUR has subsequently in detail with the 22-year-old.
