Cycling is often a family affair. Over the past few months, TOUR has presented ten families who have left their mark - all parts of the series at a glance.

Raymond Poulidor is considered the favourite of the French. He won 195 races in the 1960s and 1970s, but never the Tour de France and never wore the yellow jersey. His grandson Mathieu van der Poel, who is the son of Adrie van der Poel - once a successful classics rider - managed to do so. And Mathieu's brother David van der Poel was also active as a professional cyclist.

Stephen Roche is the only Irish Tour de France winner to date. His son Nicolas Roche was also active as a professional cyclist. However, his cousin Daniel Martin was more successful.

Luxembourg's Johny Schleck once rode alongside stars such as Jan Janssen and Luis Ocana in the Tour de France. His sons have also left their mark on cycling. Andy Schleck even won the Tour de France and his brother Fränk also wore the yellow jersey.

Erik Zabel was part of the cycling boom in Germany in the 1990s. Although his son Rick has not matched his father's success, he is currently the most popular German rider.

The next family story takes us to Italy and the Fidanzas. Father Giovanni was a professional cyclist himself and won a stage of the Tour de France. His two daughters Arianna and Martina were also drawn to professional cycling, where their father was even their team manager for a time.

Eddy Merckx is considered by many to be the greatest cyclist in history. His son Axel Merckx was never able to follow in his father's footsteps and only found fulfilment after the end of his career.

Davis Phinney made a name for himself as a sprinter at 7-elven in the 1980s. His wife Connie Carpenter-Phinney won gold in the women's road race at the 1984 Olympics. However, Davis Phinney later developed Parkinson's disease. His son Taylor Phinney made a name for himself primarily with successes in time trials, but ended his career at the age of 29.

Mariano Martinez once celebrated success in the Tour de France. His son Miguel Martinez made a name for himself primarily on the mountain bike, while his brother Yannick Martinez was also active as a professional cyclist. Lenny Martinez, Miguel's son, recently made a name for himself at the Vuelta a Espana.

Klaus Ampler and his son Uwe Ampler left their mark on GDR cycling. Both won the Peace Tour. However, Uwe Ampler, whose career ended after a positive doping test, never really found his feet in the professional world.

Walter, Willy and Eddy Planckaert all celebrated great successes as cyclists - Eddy had the most impressive career. His family life later became a serial success. His son Francesco was also a professional cyclist, as was Jo Planckaert, Willy Planckaert's son.
