The Canadian won on Saturday after 145 kilometres from Denain to the Roubaix velodrome ahead of the Italian Katia Ragusa and Marthe Truyen from Belgium.
The big favourite Lotte Kopecky finished in seventh place after the ride over 17 sectors with 29.2 kilometres of cobblestones. The best German was Romy Kasper in 17th place.
A leading group of almost 20 riders, including the German Lisa Klein, had built up a maximum lead of almost six minutes. Behind them, a group of favourites including Elisa Longo Borghini, Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes set off in pursuit. Longo Borghini caused a crash in sector nine around 38 kilometres before the finish, which took down almost the entire group. This benefited the outsiders at the front, who ultimately crossed the finish line with a few seconds advantage.
