The Dane was the winner of the 32.2 kilometre third stage around Dampierre-en-Burly with his Dutch team. Jumbo-Visma 23 seconds faster than UAE driver Pogacar, who reached the finish line as the lone rider and still managed to limit the damage. Vingegaard, who is now fifth in the overall standings, is eleven seconds ahead of the Slovenian Pogacar.
The overall leader's yellow jersey went to Vingegaard's compatriot Magnus Cort Nielsen, who with his team EF Education EasyPost was only one second slower than Jumbo. The German racing team Bora-Hansgrohe with two-time overall winner Maximilian Schachmann finished in sixth place, 25 seconds back. Schachmann thus climbed to 17th place in the overall standings.
The tour ends on Sunday in Nice. There was an innovation in the regulations for Tuesday's race: the time of the fourth best rider of a team was no longer taken, but the exact time at which the individual riders crossed the finish line was measured.
