This year, the TOUR Transalp will not take place from 20 to 26 June as planned. Due to the still challenging global pandemic situation, the organisers have decided to postpone the 18th edition of the race to the period from 26 September to 2 October 2021.
Starting places that have already been booked remain valid. There is also the option to cancel free of charge until 15 August. The organisers are confident that the TOUR Transalp can take place on the new date under significantly better conditions and with fewer official requirements and entry restrictions. Race director Marc Schneider sees many advantages in the new date: "What I'm really looking forward to are the mountains in autumn. When the colours get warmer and the air clearer, it's definitely the most beautiful time in the Alps."
The organisers are sticking to the originally planned route with a mix of world-famous passes and lesser-known roads: for the first time, the race will start in Bruneck in South Tyrol and finish in Arco in Italy after 781 kilometres, 17,790 metres in altitude and 18 passes. From Bruneck in the Puster Valley, the route first heads to St. Vigil, then via the four new stage towns of San Martino di Castrozza, Possagno, Asolo and Lavarone, on to Kaltern and finally to Arco, where the grand finale north of Lake Garda awaits the participants.
