The greatest strength of the Northwave Flagship R GTX winter road bike shoe (here in the TOUR test) is its high thermal performance. We exposed the Northwave to the cold, snow and wet for almost two hours, and our feet were still warm and dry afterwards. This is thanks to a special Gore-Tex membrane with integrated fleece. According to the manufacturer, the shoes are suitable for use in temperatures as low as -15 degrees Celsius. Thanks to the high neoprene shaft, which extends over the ankle, the shoe has excellent splash protection. Our test rider also found the high breathability to be positive, and with relatively thin road bike socks, his feet didn't get sweaty.

While the Sorpasso Ros Bibtight trousers from Castelli in the TOUR softshell suit test only had satisfactory insulation properties, the Fly Thermal jacket did very well in this area. It proved to be warm and well insulating in the test. Bergzeit currently offers the men's Fly Thermal insulation jacket from Castelli for 238 euros instead of 299 euros.
