Revised geometry, more comfort and practical additional solutions: Scott has renovated the Addict from the ground up. Thanks to the updates, the new generation is not just limited to tarmac roads and is now part of the young all-road bike segment. Complete bikes cost between 2599 and 7499 euros. TOUR has all the information.

The focus of the fundamentally revised Addict is on comfort and versatility for long tours. The centrepiece is a modified frame geometry, whereby a slightly higher stack (actual frame height) and slightly lower reach (actual frame length) allow the rider to sit more upright in the saddle compared to its predecessor. For frame size 56, an STR quotient of 1.54 is specified as the key figure for the riding position. Scott presents two frame qualities: The lighter carbon version called HMX weighs an impressive 740 grams, while no weight is known for the simpler HMF version.

Scott Addict: The most important facts

  • Weight of complete wheel: 7.4 to 8.9 kilogrammes
  • Frame weight: from 780 grams (HMX)
  • Stack/Reach/STR: 599/389 millimetres/1.54 (size L)
  • Max. tyre clearance: 38 millimetres
  • Frame sizes: 47, 49, 52, 54, 56, 58, 61
  • Prices: 2599 to 7499 Euro

Riding comfort as the primary development goal can also be seen in the modified tube shapes. The tapered seat tube, filigree top tube and low-set seat stays are intended to make the bike significantly more resilient. Compared to the old model an increase in compliance of 50 per cent. Compared to the Addict RC, Scott claims an improvement of 25 per cent, whereby the lightweight competition bike already scored points in the TOUR test with its high rear comfort. A perfect match: From now on, both platforms share the same carbon seatpost from the in-house component brand Syncros, into whose recess an optionally available rear light with StZVO approval (54.95 euros) fits.

Space for 38-millimetre tyres

With 35 millimetres, the predecessor was already generous in terms of maximum tyre clearance, but now even thicker tyres can fit through the frame and fork. Officially, the Scott can be ridden with tyres of up to 38 millimetres, which takes it into the territory of off-road gravel bikes. Specialized, for example, equips the Crux with 38mm tyres ex works. What's even more remarkable is that the new bike comes from the factory with 34 millimetre wide Schwalbe tyres. A clear indication that the Scott not only feels at home on tarmac, but also allows detours into easy terrain.

In keeping with the character of a versatile all-road bike, the new Addict offers additional solutions such as an integrated storage compartment. Unlike the competition, the "boot" is not located on the top of the down tube, but is integrated above the bottom bracket shell. A so-called "Safe-The-Day-Kit" can be inserted into the opening, and the puncture repair kit is standard equipment on all model versions. Thanks to the low positioning, the handling of the Addict remains balanced, according to Scott. Nevertheless, the cover is likely to get dirty quickly when riding in the rain or off-road.

A specially developed bag from Syncros can be mounted in the front frame triangle. The accessory (64.95 euros), which is subject to an additional charge, offers sufficient space for a rain jacket, smartphone and energy bar. A zip that can be operated with one hand is designed to facilitate access while riding. The Swiss have dispensed with mounts for fixed mudguards. However, hobby mechanics will welcome the uniform screw standard (T25) that Scott introduced on the Addict RC. The Addict also takes over the mini-tool, which is hidden in the left handlebar end on all equipment variants, from the competition racer of almost the same name.

Scott Addict: Equipment and prices

At the market launch, the Addict will be available in six equipment variants between 2599 and 7499 euros. Four models (50, 40, 30, 20) are based on the simpler HMF carbon frame, while the two top versions (10, Premium) have the lighter HMX version. According to the manufacturer, the complete bike weights range from 7.4 to 9.0 kilograms. All specifications are characterised by a modern and elegant look with (partially) integrated cables. With the exception of the Addict Premium, all models come with a two-piece handlebar/stem combo, which leaves room for manoeuvre when adjusting the position.

The groupsets from Shimano (105, 105 Di2, Ultegra Di2, Dura-Ace Di2) or SRAM (Force AXS) are all mountain-compatible, allowing a 1:1 ratio (34/34 teeth) in the lowest gear or, as with the Addict 10, even come with a reduction ratio (33/36 teeth). Important for ambitious riders: Only the Force model has a power meter. A detailed individual test of the new marathon and all-road bike will soon be available in TOUR 11/2025 or on www.tour-magazin.de.
