Eddy Merckx Bikes and Capri-Sun are reviving their collaboration from the early 1980s - this time for a good cause. The two brands are presenting a special limited edition of 100 Pévèle C all-road bikes in a retro design. The proceeds from the sale of the bikes will go to the international aid organisation War Child, which supports children in crisis areas. The Capri-Sun x Eddy Merckx Pévèle C is based on the regular Pévèle model and is designed as a versatile all-road bike. It has a carbon frame, electronic Shimano 105 Di2 gears and carbon wheels. According to the manufacturer, the geometry is designed so that riders can easily switch between tarmac and light gravel paths. With tyre clearance of up to 38 millimetres, the bike offers flexibility for different surfaces.

Visually, the special model is reminiscent of the Capri-Sonne team's racing bikes from the early 1980s. The classic Eddy Merckx lettering in the style of the time is emblazoned on the down tube. The eye-catching paintwork in the typical Capri-Sun colours is intended to provide a contrast to the bike's modern technology. Until 2017, the brand was known as Capri Sun - the sweet sugar drink is now marketed under the globally usable brand name Capri-Sun. The brand is still owned by the company founder, but the drinks are also produced under licence.

Support for children in crisis areas

The proceeds from the sale of the limited edition bikes will benefit the War Child organisation. This organisation supports children in crisis areas such as Ukraine, the Middle East and Western Europe through education, protection and psychological support. Yvonne Baumgartner, Global Brand Director at Capri-Sun, emphasises: "Capri-Sun stands for fun and active connection. This partnership is more than just a tribute to our shared history with Eddy Merckx. It is an opportunity to unite for a purpose beyond sport: to provide carefree moments for children in conflict zones."

Interested parties can also customise the bike using the online configurator. To complement the bike, Le Coffee Ride is launching a new Capri-Sun cycling jersey. History Team Capri Sun - Campagnolo - Merckx

The Capri Sonne - Campagnolo - Merckx team was a Belgian cycling team and was called Team IJsboerke until 1980. The team was managed by Walter Godefroot - Patrick Lefevere was co-sports director alongside him. The German riders on the team were Dietrich Thurau, Gregor Braun and Uwe Bolten. The team achieved strong results on Eddy Merckx's steel frames in 1982: Rudy Pevenage stood on the podium of the Tour of Flanders, Gregor Braun achieved this in Paris-Roubaix and the Amstel Gold Race, having already won Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. One of Petter Winnen's major successes was a stage win in the Tour de France - he won the stage to Morzine on 21 July 1982.
