Lightweight, stable, comfortable, affordable. Only the handlebars and wheels have room for improvement.

Canyon pursues a similar concept to its mail-order competitor Rose. The Koblenz-based company does not offer a comfort frame; instead, there are several models that are trimmed for long-distance suitability via equipment packages and can each be recognised by the suffix "ES" (for "Ergospeed"). In the case of the test bike, the technically superior, super-light Ultimate CF SLX frame becomes a marathon machine with additional spacers, a shorter stem, shock-absorbing handlebar tape, a high-quality saddle and 25-millimetre tyres. The VCLS parallelogram seatpost, which would otherwise cost extra, also comes as standard. The riding position is relaxed thanks to the extra spacers. The 6.6-kilogram bike responds spontaneously to acceleration, and it holds its line confidently on descents. The ingenious seatpost smooths out bumps and vibrations extremely effectively.
