Outstanding frame set, light equipment, weak brake pads, nine sizes

Canyon knows how to score points: thanks to weight-saving anodising, the frame remains just under 1,300 grams - the best value in this test. The lightweight fork helps to extend the gap to the competition. Excellent riding stability and an outstanding comfort result on the saddle round off the flawless balance. A new feature this season is that Canyon also offers models with SRAM equipment. The low weight and the easy-to-grip levers speak in favour of the Force groupset. The gap to Shimano and Campa has also narrowed considerably in terms of shifting behaviour. On the other hand, the new green brake pads, which SRAM has provided for the groupset since the end of 2010, are a clear step backwards. Otherwise: the usual Canyon quality, outstanding value for money.
