US manufacturer Cannondale has opted for a unique shape for the revised Synapse carbon frame. The seat and chain stays are elaborately shaped for better suspension damping. The wing-shaped seat tube is continued in an aero seat post with a technically well-designed seat clamp. When riding, we liked the comparatively good damping on the saddle. The comfortable riding position thanks to the high handlebars also contributes to the relaxed riding experience. However, the bike does not offer the unshakeable smoothness of stiffer chassis at high speeds. The comparatively modest equipment is primarily responsible for the moderate end result and the high weight of 8.6 kilos. The simple, heavy Shimano wheels in particular seem out of place in this price range.
