Tom Ritchey is one of the legends of bicycle frame construction from the USA. His steel frames had a loyal fan base worldwide and many lovers of classic bicycle design were sad when the Road Logic models were discontinued. But now the brand is celebrating a remarkable comeback of the steel road bike frame and is launching all three versions of the legendary Road-Logic frameset back on the marketThe Road Logic with rim brake, the Road Logic Disc and the Road Logic Break-Away. What they all have in common is Tom Ritchey's typical combination of classic elegance, craftsmanship and modern elements.
According to Ritchey, the features that make the Road Logic rim brake frame set so popular remain untouched. The frame is made from a heat-treated and triple-butted Ritchey Logic tube set and is TIG-welded. The frameset weighs 1770 grams at a frame height of 55 cm, the rear triangle and carbon fork leave room for tyres up to 30 millimetres wide. The frameset costs 1599 euros and comes in a beguiling paint finish called "Sally's Macarons", the lettering is in the colour mauve.
The disc frame set is not only state of the art in terms of disc brakes; the frame also allows Shimano's latest Di2 semi-wireless electronic drivetrains to be fitted. The new design of the drive-side dropouts allows concealed cable routing from the battery in the seat tube through the bottom bracket area into the chainstay, where it runs unobtrusively to the rear derailleur. Fans of mechanical drivetrains will be pleased that the Road-Logic-Disc frame also has cable stops for mechanical drivetrains. Finally, the chainstay on the opposite drive side features a new, one-piece crossbar design for flat-mount disc brakes, which offers the same stiffness and strength as the previous mounts while significantly reducing the weight of the chainstay. The new Road-Logic disc frameset (1799 euros) is finished in a deep Nigiri green colour with white logos and weighs 1940 grams at a frame height of 55 cm.
Many travelling Ritchey fans will be pleased to see the return of the Brake Away model with its clever dismantling technology and matching bike case. Apart from the clutches, the frame set corresponds to the classic Road Logic in all other details and features and is available for 2299 euros including the case.
