The Dogma X takes on the role of an endurance racer in the Italian brand’s range, alongside the Dogma F race model and the Dogma GR gravel bike. The most striking feature – the X-shaped attachment of the rear stays to the seat tube – has been redesigned and, under the name X-Stays 2.0, now features a double-arm design with four attachment points. According to the manufacturer, the design and the lower attachment point on the seat tube are intended, in particular, to better filter out fine vibrations on rough tarmac.
The frame now uses the same grade of carbon fibre as the Dogma F (Torayca M40X). Pinarello promises a lighter weight and greater durability, whilst delivering a smoother ride.
According to the manufacturer, the elliptical head tube is designed to improve aerodynamics and increase torsional stiffness. The tapered down tube also minimises drag and increases lateral stiffness, according to the manufacturer. Already familiar from the Dogma F are the ‘flaps’ – closed dropouts on the fork, which are designed to guide the airflow more effectively along the bike.
The tyre clearance is 35 millimetres. A dual-mount system ensures compatibility with SRAM’s UDH derailleur. Company director Fausto Pinarello describes the Dogma X as an all-rounder with the responsiveness and stiffness of the Dogma F, but with a carbon lay-up that makes the X ideal for all types of terrain and long days in the saddle.
The Dogma X is set to be available from 24 July; the four colours on offer are Moonlight Frost, Etna Lucente, Aqua Veil and Jade Eclipse, and custom colour combinations will also be available via Pinarello’s MyWay platform. The model range includes builds featuring Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, SRAM Red AXS and Campagnolo Super Record, as well as Campagnolo Bora WTO 4S, DT Swiss ERC 1100 and Princeton Grit 4540 wheelsets.
However, owning the new Pinarello X will be a privilege reserved for a select few. Prices for complete bikes start at 14,900 euros, whilst the frame set costs 6,700 euros.
