Slightly heavier, technically good carbon frame; high comfort, lifetime guarantee on the frameset.

The large-volume carbon frame of the "Madone 3.1" is formally identical to the expensive models, but does not offer the striking extras such as the seat dome. It also weighs more, of course, and 1,330 grams is a bit heavy for a carbon frame. On the move, the Trek pleases with a moderate riding position, balanced steering behaviour and good comfort on the saddle. The Bontrager parts fitted are functionally flawless, only on the "Apex" crankset from SRAM does the chain not change the chainring quite as smoothly as on a "105"; however, this is not a problem. The seatpost has an intelligently designed clamp. Interesting for all-weather riders: The bike has threaded eyelets for mudguards at the front and rear. Trek offers a lifetime warranty on the frameset and there is also an accident replacement policy.
