Veteran Sylvain Chavanel has yet to win a stage in the 2017 Tour de France, but his 17th participation is still of historic significance. Fittingly, he is riding a bike with special paintwork.

Since the Grand Départ in Düsseldorf, 38-year-old Sylvain Chavanel has joined George Hincapie, Stuart O'Grady and Jens Vogt as one of the record participants in the Tour de France. The Frenchman has already notched up 44 professional victories in his long career, three of them at the Tour. The participation record is captured several times on his bike, a BH G7 Pro. Chavanel's racer is a BH G7 Pro. The G7 was initially only launched on the market with disc brakes, so last year the team launched an "unofficial" version with rim brakes. For the 2018 season, the model is now officially available to buy as the G7 Pro.

Next year, Chavanel wants to become the sole record holder - even before the Tour, he extended his contract with Team Direct Energie for another year.
