Tommasini is one of the last major steel frame manufacturers in Italy. The fact that the family-run company from Tuscany is still doing well is first and foremost due to the fact that company founder Irio Tommasini is highly respected as a frame builder. However, the commercial side is no less important. The 77-year-old always had a feel for niches, markets and trends. Tommasini is regarded as a specialist for oversized bikes, discovered the USA and Japan as export markets early on and was not too shy to serve the fixie trend of recent years with appropriate frames.

However, the most important success factor is the quality craftsmanship of the frames. Tommasini loves the extravagant combination of steel and carbon. As one of the last frame builders, he is one of the last to offer traditional steel frames with ornate investment casting sleeves, decorative engravings and chrome plating, which have long been typical of Italian frames. The "Tecno" frame, which has been built almost unchanged since 1991, was originally made from EL-O.S. tubes from Columbus; the "Nemo" tube set from the same supplier is now used. The tube diameters are slightly larger than those of Cinelli's Supercorsa, which shows its effect on the test bench. Although almost 300 grams lighter, the Tecno is only slightly less stiff. Before painting, the head tube lugs and the rear triangle are chrome-plated first, then the entire frame. There is a choice of 18 colours, and individual designs are also possible. The "Italian Flag" paint finish is reminiscent of the 80s.
