Expensive versus cheap: 16 aero bikes in the TOUR test
In the wind tunnel, we tested 16 aero racing bikes between €1,700 and €10,000 in eight inter-brand duels. The central question is: does it have to be the expensive top model, or do affordable aero bikes also offer speed advantages?

The graphs show, sorted by brand, the drag curves of the 16 aero wheels at different angles of attack (-20 to 20 degrees). There are two measurement curves for each model. One curve refers to the measurement with the original wheels, the second curve to the measurement with the reference wheels. For the expensive models, the comparative measurements were carried out with Zipp 404 Firecrest (2014 model). For the affordable price group, we chose the aerodynamically equally good but heavier Hadron 625 from Swiss Side for the comparative measurements.
