Test 2015: Stevens Stelvio
Relatively heavy but stiff frame set with very smooth running. Functionally good equipment, heavy wheels.

At just under nine kilos, the Stelvio is one of the heavier bikes in the test. Advantage: The manufacturer approves the model for a total weight of up to 115 kilos. The frame is manufactured using an elaborate smooth-welding process, has a clean finish and is very stable. The new 105 is combined with a simpler Shimano crank, which shifts just as well as the original. Stevens offers the model in two versions: With chainring combination 52/36 and 11/28 cassette as well as with classic compact crank (50/34) and 12/32 package. 25 millimetre wide tyres provide pleasant cushioning. The rather heavy Fulcrum wheels and Scorpio brand components look solid, and the relatively narrow saddle is comfortable. Thanks to the combination of high stiffness and long wheelbase, the bike stays on track even on fast descents.
