Test 2015: Koga Kimera Road AL 105
Extremely sporty geometry, available up to frame height 66! One of the last triple crank bikes. Heavy.

The Kimera is one of the last production bikes with a triple drivetrain. In the age of eleven-speed cassettes, these are threatened with extinction, which is why Koga has largely equipped the bike with the "old" ten-speed 105. Only the brakes are from the new 105, and those who opt for a triple usually have good reasons for doing so and accept the inevitable extra weight. One argument remains the possibility of combining a wide range of gear ratios with a narrow gradation. However, if you utilise the possibilities of modern eleven-speed drivetrains, you can achieve almost the same range of gear ratios. A comparison between the older and the new 105 fitted here shows that the new shifting system is more precise and the slimmer grips are more comfortable to hold. Positive: The extremely sporty frame is available up to size 66.
