The Synapse Hi-Mod is one of the rare production models with an Athena 3x11 groupset. The groupset is currently the first choice for riders who want a wide range of gear ratios with a fine gear gradation and is at the cutting edge in terms of shifting and braking function. You sit relaxed on the independent carbon frame. Three things ensure that you ride with almost air-cushion-like cushioning: The seat tube split at the bottom flexes visibly under load, the thin carbon seat post yields vertically and the bike rolls on 28 millimetre wide tyres - although these do cause slight problems when fitting and removing the wheels. As the Athena brakes cannot be opened wide enough for the thick tyres, wheel changes require a little gentle force.
