The "Legend" titanium frame was first presented by US frame builder Ben Serotta in 1993. Triple-butted tubes made of the alloy "3AL/2.5V" were a novelty at the time, when some saw titanium as the frame material of the future. In order to reduce the weight even further, the Legend tube set has been refined ever since. At the same time, Serotta developed an ingenious system that allows each frame to be customised.

Unlike other manufacturers, the customisation does not end with the geometry, but also includes the tube sets, whose diameter and taper are adapted to customer requirements. With this emphasis on customisation to personal preferences, the Legend somewhat eludes generally accepted test standards. In terms of the measured values, the test frame is designed more for leisure riders than for sprinters or daredevil downhill riders - without the values being critical. In terms of craftsmanship, the frame is a joy. It is not so much the flawless weld seams that ennoble it, but rather details such as filigree dropouts, the externally turned head tube or the etched lettering on the seat tube - details that will make the hearts of enthusiasts beat faster. One of Serotta's specialities is partial paintwork, which is only decorative on the corrosion-resistant metal. Whether a titanium frame should be painted at all is a controversial issue among fans. However, if the paint application is as flawless as on the test bike, there is little to be said against it.
