Next to Scott's avant-garde models such as the Foil, which was moulded in the wind tunnel, the Speedster S10 looks almost conservative - which is not necessarily a bad thing. Its aluminium tubes were given their slightly angular shape by hydroforming. The head tube houses a fork with a 1-1/8-inch steerer tube, which is rare today. The bike is similarly discreet in the riding test. Sitting position? Neither particularly stretched nor remarkably upright. Riding stability? Uncritical. Comfort? Not overly harsh. Gearstick and brakes? Nothing conspicuous. The fact that Shimano brakes were fitted without a groupset was not noticeable in a negative way. Only the heavy clincher tyres, which are unusual in this price range, are worth replacing soon.
