The new edition of the Speedster is reminiscent of the Foil carbon frame, and there are also formal references to the Aero model. The down tube and chainstays have been hydroformed into shape and all cables are neatly routed internally. However, a glance at the weight dispels any doubts that this is not the cheap aluminium version. The frame set with very heavy fork weighs 2.5 kilos; together with the solid, but not light equipment, the Scott comes in last in the weight ranking at just under nine kilos. Shimano's Ultegra drivetrain with compact crankset and mountain cassette is a good alternative to the triple chainring, and the riding position is slightly more comfortable than on the Foil. Clearly, savings were made on the wheels and tyres.
