Very high-quality frame set, minor weaknesses in the equipment. Many, even very large frame sizes.

In the heyday of aluminium frame construction, the Pro-SL would have passed for a high-end frame. Thanks to the very light fork, the frameset remains under 1,900 grams with more than sufficient riding stability. Robust surface anodising and internally routed cables give the frame a high-quality look. The elaborate frame forces Rose to make compromises with the components. The FSA cranks don't look particularly good with the 105 components, but harmonise perfectly with the gears. When it comes to the wheels, Mavic's class-standard complete solution is sufficient: stable Aksium wheels with 23 millimetre wide Aksion tyres. Wider tyres would improve damping, which would benefit comfort at the rear in particular. The Ritchey handlebars, which fit perfectly in the hands, and the comfortable saddle deserve praise.
