The R1, which is quite light for its price range, does a lot of things right. The perfectly designed Syntace cockpit, whose slightly angled upper handlebars, wrapped in well-damped tape, sit perfectly in the hands, plays a large part in the positive riding impression. A complete 105 groupset from Shimano is no longer a matter of course at this price level, while Aksium wheels from Mavic are a solid choice. Simple 25-millimetre tyres noticeably dampen the ride on the vertically very stiff frame. The narrow saddle is reminiscent of the best-selling SLR from Selle Italia and should appeal to frequent and competitive riders in particular. In addition to mail order, Radon bikes are also available from around 100 dealers across Europe, who deliver the bike to the customer ready to ride and are the first point of contact for servicing.
